I am a trained therapist with more than two decades of combined years of experience in non-formal and formal counselling and coaching in Australia and overseas. I have competencies in a variety of fields and have done counselling work with a diverse range of people across cultures and ages and in a number of areas. Some of the work includes school-based counselling, family relationship, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, workplace counselling, parenting, individual women, children and youth counselling.
I have a Master in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Post-Graduate Diploma and a Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills. I am continuously expanding and enhancing my competencies and professional practice through further studies.
My practice is informed by a number of therapeutic theories and models including: Existential, Systems, Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy – CBT, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy – DBT, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy – REBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – ACT, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Gestalt and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. These models enable exploration of the individual within biological, psychological, spiritual and social/cultural/environmental contexts. They also enable helping through self-reflection, modification or altering of thoughts, transformation and change through behaviour
